Personal Commendation
    from the First Lady

          Michelle Obama

June 17, 2009 Nicole was the featured cover story of the Huntsville Times. She received a personal commendation from First Lady, Michelle Obama, for both her athletic and academic accomplishments on the year.

Nicole overcame some great odds during her 8th grade year. She sustained a comprehensive “A” average, and led her middle school basketball team to the County Championship finals.

This was an exceptional accomplishment given Nicole had knee surgery in late October of 2008 and missed one-third of the regular season. After returning to the team, she finished the regular season and tournament emerging as the comprehensive leading scorer. Her ability to recover from knee surgery and attain the highest athletic performance of the year without blemishing her academics was remarkable. Nicole is one of the youngest athletes to be featured as the cover story of the Huntsville Times. The circulation of the Huntsville Times is approximately 75,000.

     Personal Commendation from
    Governor Bob Riley 2009, 2010

In addition to First Lady Michelle Obama, Governor Bob Riley sent a personal commendation to Nicole for her athletic and academic performance (Summer 2009). This summer (2010), Nicole received another commendation from the Governor for winning the AAU State Championship and has been extended an invitation to join him and the official state of Alabama delegation in traveling to China next year. Nicole is excited about the opportunity and will make a final decision about taking the trip over the next several months.
